Rowland strengthens government relations team with appointment of Dolan Hayes
One of Queensland’s most experienced media and policy advisors — Dolan Hayes — has joined the state’s leading strategic communication, digital and creative agency, Rowland, as an Associate.
Dolan is based in Townsville but works extensively in Brisbane. He will expand the agency’s reach as North Queensland Associate and strengthen Rowland’s government engagement capabilities as government relations specialist.
Dolan combines a deep knowledge of the Townsville and North Queensland region with extensive professional experience across government and private industry.
As well as serving as a media and policy advisor in state government portfolios including Premier & Cabinet, Transport, and Economic Development, he was a former Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the city of Townsville – working closely with former Townsville Mayor Tony Mooney over a ten-year period through to 2008.
He has led major community campaigns in the north, winning State and Federal Government funding support for the $300M Townsville stadium project and re-gaining international airport status for the Townsville airport. He has run community engagement and media relations for multi-billion dollar developments in Brisbane and across South East Queensland.
His knowledge of government and the interface with private industry builds upon Rowland’s strategic offering including media relations, community and stakeholder engagement, marketing and communications, issues management, and government relations.
Rowland Chairman Geoff Rodgers said he was thrilled to welcome Dolan to the firm in a formal capacity after a long history of working together.
“Dolan’s wealth of experience, knowledge and insight comes from a long and successful career in both the public and private sectors.
“He is a leader in advising organisations on their interface with government and community and special interest groups, and has a proven track record of delivering quality outcomes and solutions.”
For more than 30 years, Rowland has helped the business community to engage with governments and oppositions of the day. Rowland’s Government and Public Affairs practice develops and maintains a constructive interface with the public sector by helping clients to understand the objectives of government at all levels.
Rowland also enjoys a 16-year association with one of the world’s largest communication groups, FleishmanHillard, which operates 80 offices and employs 3,600 people globally, and is part of the massive NYSE-listed Omnicom Group — the world’s largest marketing services holding company.
Headquartered in Brisbane, Rowland works with leading corporations, brands, and governing bodies across Australia providing communication support to successfully achieve corporate strategy, shape culture and brands, and manage reputation.
