Dolan combines a deep knowledge of the Townsville and North Queensland region with extensive professional experience across government and private industry.

Dolan formally served the Queensland Australian Labour Party Government as a media and policy advisor in portfolios such as Premiers, Transport, and Economic Development. He developed specialist consultancy skills during a decade of work with leading public relations firms in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Transport Project Experience

In 2016 Townsville Airport began a $60M redevelopment of the Townsville Airport to upgrade to international standards despite airline resistance.

Dolan led the community advocacy campaign to gain intentional airport status for the Townsville airport. He also secured federal government support to establish a northern border force and successfully lobbied Jetstar to commence intentional services to Bali.

Dolan continues to manage issues and unite all key local stakeholders in support of the ongoing redevelopment.

Local Government Experience

City of Townsville (1998 – 2008)

Director of Marketing and Public Relations and Deputy Director of the Townsville-Thuringowa Counter Disaster Committee

Dolan’s insight in the Townsville and North Queensland community were honed in his role as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the city of Townsville – working closely with former Townsville Mayor Tony Mooney over a ten year period through to 2008.

Key achievements include:

  • Effective planning, crisis and issues management, and disaster communications during many large events, including the North Queensland floods of 2008
  • Creating a community consultation master plan for key stakeholders
  • The community advocacy campaign that secured $100M from the state government toward a new Integrated Stadium and Entertainment Centre for Townsville.
Federal Government Project Experience

Dolan wrote a funding application for KPMG required to commence their North Queensland Energy Review. KPMG received $2.5M in funds from the Federal government for the North Queensland Energy Review.
